Protect yourself from FAKE websites by following these steps to verify the website before giving your credit card details to what could potentially be a fake site run by an international criminal network.

1. Look for a South African contact number. Fake sites will not have a local phone number or any form of direct contact.
2. Look for South African payment gateways, like PayFast, Payflex, Ozow, etc.
3. Look for prices that are similar to those you would expect in a store eg. R1299 rather than an odd number eg. R1237 and if the prices look too cheap then be extra vigilant.
4. Any website that charges for shipping from abroad should be treated with caution. Fake website are always based outside of South Africa but show a SA flag to look official.
5. Even if they are genuine, they can take weeks to arrive and YOU WILL BE CHARGED import duty, VAT and clearance charges when they arrive which can add another 60% to the purchase price. This is not refundable if you have to return the shoes at your cost.
